Our
Story

The year 2025 sees CBDS celebrate it’s 40th year as an operating dance studio business! It all started with Cheryl Bradley, who trained as a professional dancer and teacher with Gwen Mackey, Helen Bienke and Roger Hicks at the Adelaide College of Dance. In 1985 the Clearview dance studio doors opened, bringing together a community of dancers that were taught by Cheryl Bradley and her team in the surrounding areas of Ingle farm, Para Vista, Enfield, North Adelaide and Pooraka. Over the last forty years CBDS has upheld a strong tradition of fostering professional dancers and dance teachers with training in RAD & CSTD & Acro Arts Syllabus and an assistant teacher apprenticeship program, which now also includes access to certificate 3 & 4 in dance and teacher training.

Many dancers from the studio have gone onto pre-professional institutions, including WAAPA, The Australian Ballet School, and The National Ballet School. CBDS dancers have also performed in companies including The Australian Ballet, The Western Australian Ballet Company, Nederlands Dans Theater, Houston Ballet, and Oregon Ballet Theatre.

CBDS continues to be involved in local community events and is especially proud of the annual tradition of performing with the South Australian Christmas Pageant, a tradition that began from when Cheryl performed as a troupe, and later lead, dancer when with the Gwen Mackey Dancers. CBDS have also been proud participants of Candance For A Cure since its beginning in 2010. In 2015, a tour group of 30 CBDS dancers, accompanied by their families and teachers, travelled together to USA in partnership with Dance Around the World, performing at Universal Studios, Hollywood Boulevard in LA and Disneyland in Anaheim. This experience also included once in a lifetime masterclasses and workshops at LA DanceForce. Additionally, CBDS has performed annually at the SA Dance Festival since its launch in 2017.

During the Covid-19 lockdowns in 2020, CBDS continued to care for their dance community through offering dance tuition via zoom. Thankfully, the studio was soon back to in-person classes and in 2024 the studio continues to grow, offering Acrobatic Arts classes and access to certified Pilates sessions with an onsite Reformer, Wunda Chair and Cadillac equipment. CBDS continues to offer participation for soloists and troupe teams in dance competitions and are proud of our all our dancers achievements, with teams continuing to gain regional and national Championship titles.
